Police launch second murder investigation in Enfield in a fortnight

A murder inquiry is underway after a man was stabbed in a leafy north London suburb.

Police said the 23-year-old man presenting himself to hospital in Barnet with stab injuries after 7pm on Tuesday evening.

The man, who has not been named, died of his injuries an hour later.

He was reported to have been stabbed in the Oakwood area of Enfield borough.

A statement by the Metropolitan Police said: “Next of kin have been informed. Formal identification is yet to take place. A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.

“Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.

“At this early stage, officers believe the victim was stabbed in The Fairway near the junction with Masefield Crescent, N14.”

No arrests have yet been made and anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 020 8721 4205 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The incident comes less than a fortnight after 42-year-old Damien McLaughlin was found with a fatal stab wound to the heart in Brimsdown.

Four people have been charged in connection with the murder on 23 April.

The incident is not thought to be connected to Tuesday’s incident in Oakwood.
