Man broke into central London mosque, stealing laptop and cash, in December last year
People want to speak to this man in connection to a burglary at a mosque in central London just before Christmas last year.
The suspect was caught on CCTV walking into Holborn mosque, close to Chancery Lane station, just before 5.30pm on 24 December 2016.
Footage – which can be viewed on Haber’s website at habernewspaper.co.uk – shows the suspect walking inside and using his body weight to break the door open to an office.
Once inside, he searched the room and removed a laptop and cash. He then left the building and cycled towards Islington on a BMX bicycle.
The suspect is described as an Asian man, aged in his mid-20s and of medium build. He was wearing a red jacket, a red cap and black jeans. He was also carrying two black rucksacks.
No arrests have been made, although police said their enquiries were continuing.
“The owners of the mosque were disheartened to see the damage to their office and theft of their property,” said Detective Constable Mark Pinder.
“We are keen to identify the man in the CCTV footage so we can speak to him about the incident. We would also urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.”
